Frequently Asked Questions

  • PMU should never be approached as one-size-fits-all.

Suitability is assessed based on your individual features, starting point, undertones, skin, previous work, asymmetry, and overall healed result goals. Some clients are ideal candidates for direct enhancement, while others may require a more considered plan depending on what is already present.

The focus is always on choosing the most refined and appropriate approach for you.

  • Previous cosmetic tattoo does not automatically mean treatment cannot be performed, but it does need to be assessed properly first.

The healed shape, pigment saturation, undertone, placement, and overall condition of the existing work will all influence what is possible and what approach should be taken. In some cases, enhancement may be suitable. In others, a more considered correction plan may be needed.

This is why consultation is especially important for previous work cases.

  • Fresh PMU will always appear more defined, saturated, and intense immediately after treatment.

As the area heals, the pigment softens and settles into the skin or lip tissue, resulting in a more natural-looking healed finish. This is a normal part of the process.

At Empress Brow Artistry, the focus is always on the healed result — not just how the treatment looks on the day.

  • Yes - please note a consultation is a part of the full service appointment already.

A consultation is strongly recommended, particularly for clients with previous work, asymmetry concerns, correction needs, or anyone unsure whether they are a suitable candidate.

It allows the treatment plan to be considered properly before the appointment and helps ensure the most appropriate approach is chosen for your features and goals.

For some clients, suitability may also be confirmed through the booking process or enquiry stage depending on the service.

  • Healing varies slightly from client to client, however most PMU treatments go through an initial healing period over the first 7 to 14 days, with the full healed result continuing to settle over the following weeks.

Brows and lips can both appear stronger or more defined at first before softening as they heal.

You will be given aftercare guidance and healing expectations so you understand what is normal throughout the process.

  • Not always.

Some clients retain beautifully after the first appointment, while others may benefit from a refinement session depending on healing, skin response, and the desired final result.

Because every client heals differently, touch-ups are approached individually rather than assumed as part of every case.

  • Suitability depends on several individual factors, including your skin, features, previous work, undertones, overall condition of the area being treated, and your treatment goals.

The best way to determine suitability is through consultation or enquiry, where your starting point can be assessed more carefully.

This helps ensure the right treatment is chosen and that expectations are aligned with what is realistically possible.

  • You will receive pre-appointment guidance before your booking, however general preparation includes arriving well, avoiding anything that may increase sensitivity where possible, and following any service-specific instructions provided to you.

If you have previous work, relevant medical considerations, or anything that may affect healing, it is important to disclose this before treatment so the appointment can be approached appropriately.

Coming prepared helps support the best possible treatment experience and healed outcome.
